The Heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork:)

Have you ever stared up into the sky on a dark night and marveled as you looked into the milky way?

For generations the moon has captivated the young and the old. Songs have been written and imaginations have been stirred.

But what does the Bible say about the moon?

Read on to find out:)

God Bless you all real good as you seek to represent Him in all you do!!

Praise and Thanksgiving! Our Privilege

PRAYER

(particularly Praise and Thanksgiving)

Tonight's message was on prayer. We talked about Supplications - Asking God for things we need. Intercessory Prayer - Asking for God to take care of the needs of others. Prayer in general - Praying that His will be done etc... And finally we talked about Praise and Thanksgiving - Praising God for who He is and what He has done.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (NKJV)

It's this last type of prayer that I really wanted to make the focus tonight. In the Men's group last week we had this verse:

“Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. “
Hebrews 13:15 NKJV

We don't "HAVE" to pray, we "GET" to pray! What an amazing privilege we have that we could offer praise and thanksgiving to the maker of the very ground we stand on.

We take much for granted, God is very good and even the simplest acts of His love towards us are amazing but we grow accustom to His goodness. It's good to be reminded from time to time of just how great our God is.

Tonight as we were closing, Emily P. had the privilege of offering the, "fruit of her lips" to the God of the universe. In Malachi 3:16-17 God says, "Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name. "They shall be Mine," says the LORD of hosts, "On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him."

And so tonight, it was recorded that Emily came forth and offered to God her heartfelt thanks for His blessings to us and praised Him for who He is! Such an amazing opportunity.

And regarding our prayers He says,

"Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth." (Revelation 5:8-10)

Our prayers make it all the way to heaven where God so cherishes them that He causes them to be saved up in golden bowls as a sweet incense, to be offered before the very throne of God! Offered up for a sweet smelling savor! And Emily's praise is there:)

Praise God!

BEAUTIFUL SNOW

My favorite poem.
It is commonly thought to have been written
 by Joseph W. Watson but much controversy
surrounds this poem and it's authorship is uncertain.
 Many believe the last few stanzas were added later
so as to give hope to the reader. I've added pictures
 in an attempt to make it seem more real. The theology
of the author could be better but without doubt it is a
 good representation of the beliefs of some.
And the last two stanzas tell the rest of the story
 Enjoy!

 Oh! The snow, the beautiful snow,

            Filling the sky and the earth below,

            Over the housetops, over the street,

            Over the heads of people you meet.

Dancing,

                    Flirting,

                                  Skimming along,

            Beautiful snow! It can do no wrong;

            Flying to kiss a fair lady's cheek,

            Clinging to lips in frolicksome freak;

            Beautiful snow from heaven above,

            Pure as an angel, gentle as love!

Oh, the snow, the beautiful snow,

How the flakes gather and laugh as they go

Whirling about in maddening fun:

Chasing,

        Laughing,

                Hurrying by.

It lights on the face and it sparkles the eye;

And the dogs with a bark and a bound

Snap at the crystals as they eddy around;

The town is alive, and its heart is aglow,

To welcome the coming of beautiful snow.

How wild the crowd goes swaying along,

Hailing each other with humor and song;

How the gay sleighs like meteors flash by,

Bright for a moment, then lost to the eye:

Ringing,

        Swinging,

                    Dashing they go,

Over the crest of the beautiful snow;

Snow so pure as it falls from the sky,

To be trampled in time by the crowd rushing by -

To be trampled and tracked by thousands of feet

Till it blends with the filth in the horrible street.

Once I was pure as the snow, but I fell,

Fell like the snow flakes from heaven to hell;

Fell to be trampled as filth in the street,

Fell to be scoffed, to be spit on and beat;

Pleading,

    Cursing,

                    Dreading to die,

Selling my soul to whoever would buy;

Dealing in shame for a morsel of bread,

Hating the living and fearing the dead.

Merciful God!  I have fallen so low!

And yet I was once like the beautiful snow..

Once I was fair as the beautiful snow,

With an eye like a crystal, a heart like its glow;

Once I was loved for my innocent grace--

Flattered and sought for the charms of my face!

Father,

    Mother,

            Sisters--all,

God and myself I have lost by my fall:

The veriest wretch that goes shivering by,

Will make a wide sweep lest I wander too nigh,

For all that is on or above me I know,

There is nothing so pure as the beautiful snow.

How strange it should be that this beautiful snow

Should fall on a sinner with nowhere to go!

How strange it should be when the night comes ag
ain

If the snow and the ice struck my desperate brain!

Fainting,

        Freezing,

                    Dying alone,

Too wicked for prayer, too weak for a moan

To be heard in the streets of the crazy town,

Gone mad in the joy of snow coming down:

To be and to die in my terrible woe,

With a bed and a shroud of the beautiful snow.

Helpless and foul as the trampled snow,

SINNER, DESPAIR NOT! CHRIST STOOPETH LOW

TO RESCUE THE SOUL THAT IS LOST IN SIN,

AND RAISE IT TO LIFE AND ENJOYMENT AGAIN.

Groaning,

    Bleeding,

                Dying--for then,

The Crucified hung on the cursed tree!

His accents of mercy fall soft on thine ear,

"Is there mercy for me? Will He hear my weak prayer?"

O God, in the stream that for sinners did flow,

WASH ME, AND I SHALL BE WHITER THAN SNOW.

The Romans Road

"As it is written: "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO, NOT ONE; "
(Romans 3:10)

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, "
(Romans 3:23)

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. "
(Romans 6:23)

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. "
(Romans 5:8)

"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. "
(Romans 10:9-10)
